Here is some good news for the website KnowledgeOman.com. An article about them was featured in the Khaleej Times newspaper.

These are the first signs of KnowlwdgeOman (kO!) going international which is a great thing for everyone to benefit from, a great thing for Oman to be able to put its name on the world's IT map and especially great for me because I am part of kO!. Besides, I was the one who took that picture of Tariq Al Barwani (sorry Tariq).

Let's all be part of this great revaluation. It's not about who is best, it's about how we can make a difference. In short, Join kO!

Who's sponsoring kO! ?

I can hardly see any banners of sponsors on kO!. Is it personally sponsored by Tariq Al-Barwani ?

At the moment, it is persona;;y sponsored by Tariq but we have major sponsors coming soon inshalla.

This is a question for our marketing manager, Mujahid Ali. I can't give out much.

What else does Tariq do besides sponsoring the project?

Ow! Tariq is the brains behind this. He is the decision maker and comes up with solutions to make Knowledge Oman as big as it's going.

It's because of him that our name is on newspapers and it's because of him that you heard about KnowledgeOman. Basically, he is knowledgeoman.

You raised an interesting issue, al-maawali.

We all know that if it was not Tariq behind kO!, it wouldn't have been recognized by a lot of people in this short time and it wouldn't have been recognized by the media. Because Tariq is a known IT person in Oman and because he has a lot of connections with the media, he could let kO! reach to people through the media.

Though, lets say that somebody else was behind kO!. Lets say that I for example opened a website called knowledgeoman, with the same team Tariq has now, and for the same purpose Tariq opened this website. Would I get as much coverage and recognition of my website? Definitely not... 'cause I don't have connections with the media like Tariq.

I'm not saying that it's a bad thing or anything like that. In fact, it's great that Tariq is doing all that to kO! and I salute him for making kO! recognized in such a short period.

Amjad: I won't deny that, or better yet, I will confirm that! It's because of Tariq and his connections that we got this much publicity this fast and yes, if you started the same website with the same team, it probably won't be as easy.

So, this is great! In the end of the day, knowledgeOman is for the benefit of everyone. So what Tariq is a marketing tool as much as he is our leader? It works, doesn't it!

So, I salute him too for all that he is doing for our community.

Cummon! I dont know why every body is talking about tariq as if he is the best. the guy was lucky and now everyone is talking about him and stuff. I know people who are much better than him and they can do much better work.

Al-Maawali April 15, 2008 11:48 PM

Well Mr anonymous, I think that it's not about who's best at the moment, it is about being at the right place at the right time.

Tariq was the first to do stuff for the IT sector in Oman that nobody has ever done before and he was young at that time which was an advantage. This also grabbed the media's attention which still stays with him to this day.

So I ask you, why not use this advantage and especially if using this advantage is for the benefit of everyone?

Like I said, there are probably people who are more specialized and better than Tariq but not many have what he has and with that, he makes a difference.

I myself not fond of Tariq but I will not deny that I have become supporting him after seeing all the things he does for omand and community. How old is he? late 30s. Someone with this fame connections and popularity will be a snob and showoff. Tariq is simple and down 2 earth. He has his talk show i think every week and is always open to be friends with anyone. I salute him 2!!!

Anonymous: He is not in his late 30s. lol. He is about 27 or 28, he is really young but look at how much he has achieved.

I also think he is simple and down to earth. Salute!
