"The Week" Features KnowledgeOman
Yep, in this weeks edition you'll find a big picture of KnowledgeOman's (kO!) full team along with a description of what kO! is all about. You will also find many quotes from Tariq Al Barwani himself, the founder and president of kO!.
Not much was said about the other members of the kO! Team but I guess it's great to see such progress in kO!'s publicity in the Omani press along with some publicity in the international press.
And because I work with the kO! Team, you'll find my picture on that image too. For you who don't know how I look like, I am the second from the top right.

I didn't recognize you in the picture UNTIL you said which one you are?
I know, it's a really bad picture of me. The only reason they chose that picture is because Tariq had a big smile on his face which looks cool :p

Who are the different players in the team and what do they do as part of KO and their day 2 day lives?
Very informative website. I enjoyed it but there is many content so I can't finish them all. Is this the first in the middle east? Who is sponsoring the project? Is it a government or individual.

Ramy: I don't know if it's the first in the middle east but I suspect that it is. At the moment, it is sponsored by individuals and soon by companies. It is not a government project, it is a project created by a team (The kO! Team).
I am glad you liked it. The content on the front page will be updated every Saturday so keep on coming back for more.

First one is Bader who is a pro in finishing up papers and related documents with government entities. Second is me and I work as the journalist/reporter as well as the editor in chief of the kO! home page content. Third is Mujahid who is in charge of our advertising and publicity. Fourth is Mohammed who is the content strategist. Now for the bottom three. First is Mudassir who you might recognize from the forum. He is the administrator and in charge of all the technical part of the website. Second and in the middle is Tariq who is the founder and president of the website. And last but not least, Maryam who is in charge of the up coming Arabic edition of KnowledgeOman and also in some graphical aspects of the current knowledgeoman.

You all guys have good roles in here. My questions is why need a president. Does he really know what you guys are doing? I think you guys could work without him. I am not sure if he knows any of your jobs here but u just put him president for noting. Please ask team to reconsider him
I do not agree with you ramy. I think KO is an empty box without that president. He's a history in web and al-maawali can confirm it if he worked closely with this guy. He always pretends doesnt know what is going on but deep inside you will see he is involved in every things. Check out his personal website which was sold to some company in dubai. Check out the company he is working now nawras oman. It keeps winning. Now check out KO. Just started but where is it today. Now do you think he should remain?
Ramy: You made me laugh for a second there. Tariq is the brains behind this whole operation. And although you may not see him much on the website, we meet up with him every week and make sure everything is going as planed and even brainstorm new ideas and ideas suggested to us by our members. And besides, Tariq is the whole reason why this website got this much publicity this fast.
Al Rashdi: Yes, I agree. Like I said, Tariq is why this website got big fast. But you also have to give credit to the amazing team that we are working with (myself excluded :P ).
Why is it that whenever there is a post of tariq there is flares everywhere? Is he that bad in computing.
Ravi: I can tell you this, he is NOT bad. But as to why there are flares on him, I am not sure.
I think that the main reason is that Tariq is a public figure and when you are a public figure, you will have people who like you and people who don't. Tariq admits himself that he is not the best in the world and that there are people who are better than him but I think that Tariq got to where he is because he was a pioneer in what he did.
I heard live radio show. I heard him while driving to city center. I can tell you he is good at what he does. You will wish it never ends. I dont think it is because he is pioner. It is the talent from what I see.

I think what al-maawali is trying to say is that tariq is like the father of computing in oman. He knows it inside out. He likes to share his knowledge to everyone.
murali: I don't know about "father" but yes, he does like to share his knowledge and that's why he is popular.

BeinOman and folks! KnowledgeOman is not new and many people have done the same. Tariq is just normal person like anyone else. I know many people better than him. His computing skills is not that good either. I dont consider him a computer guy. He is just good in business. What the hell are you talking about him sharing knowledge. He does not share anything and whatever he does share is not important.
KnoledgOmn is better off without him. Take him out and you will see it doing much better than now.

Yes, without those two, kO! will be shut. That's what you call a team. We all depend on each other to get things done. If it weren't for Tariq who came up with the whole concept, kO! wouldn't have existed. And even if somebody came up with the idea, it would have took much longer to get as popular as it got with kO! and maybe even not get popular at all.
Mujahid is responsible of spreading the word but Tariq is the reason why many join in the first place.
Why ur baking him alot. Look here it is simple if technical is not there the website will not work in the first thing. Concept is only idea. Technical is the most important things in Web. It is about the people who created it not the people who conceptualize it. I hope u got my point and thank u for accepting that without the marketing man and technical man KO will be shot!
I am not backing anybody up, I am simply stating the facts. I admit that technical and marketing is the most important but the truth of the matter is, anybody who knows about the technical part can do it and the same goes with the marketing but not anyone has a well known name that would make a product (knowledgeOman) be popular really fast.
I am not saying this under anything personal with Tariq, this is fact.
i remeber once i ask him what is something in computer he didnt know it. also some1 asked him what is ko built from. he said he didnt know. i wonder if he knows what forum is or what is behind forum technical parts becoz simply he is not IT Xpert.
he has 2 support tariq because he is part of KO. Isn't that a proof of him being defensive? if not prove it by examples
Listen guys, I am not here to defend Tariq, like I said several times already, I only presented the facts.
I guess it's up to you on whether you think he is worth his position or not. What more can I say?
Come on everyone. I know Tariq personally. The word VERY GOOD is even not enough to describe him. The truth in the fact is. He is a technical commericial. His background is IT but he is also a wise businessman. The two characterstics compliments and that's the product KO. I am with al-maawali and support him 1000%
al-maawali do not get offended. Successful people will always be in such situations and Tariq is no exception for the successful projects he works on!

There is no wrong or right here. If you don't like Tariq then you don't like Tariq. What can I say? But you'll gotta look at the facts and judge upon them.
Fact is simple this guy made lot of good difference for the country. His latest portal knowledge is just one example. He is always in looking for ways to help with his knowledge now this site is open for people to promote their knowledge. I wish him best and we should support not him but anybody else who does like him.
He became public figure talking about years+ of progress and media appearance he captured. I saw of him from quite young till yesterday paper. With every fame and success there is a price to pay. I hope he realizes that too!
