KnowledgeOman featured in "Al Usbo'a"

They did it again! KnowledgeOman (kO!) is in this week's edition of the Arabic edition of "The Week" newspaper (Al Usbo'a). The article naturally talked about kO! and its president, Tariq Al Barwani.

Although I was happy for the fact that they were, yet again, talked about in a popular weekly newspaper, the article had some mistakes and failed to mention a really important information.

First, it's true that Tariq is our president and sure, he will be mentioned the most, other than the fact that he is a local celebrity of course but the person who mostly spoke to the reporter was Maryam Al-Tamami who her name was only mentioned once at the end of the article along with everybody else's names from our team.
I think that it's not fair to her and that she deserves but I spoke to her and she was really happy about the article.

Secondly, they wrote one of the member's name wrong. Instead of writing Muddasir, they wrote Nasar. Man, that's not even close!

And last but not least, the biggest of them all, the whole purpose of publishing the article in the first place... they forgot to write the URL to kO! Yes, you read that right, they forgot!

I understand that even newspapers make mistakes but isn't this the kind of thing that you look into thoroughly?

What you are saying is

KnowledgeOman = tariq!

If (tariq != KnowledgeOman) Then

KnowledgeOman = 0

Is that what you were trying to point out?

I told you. Just remove tariq from project and this website will do much better. It is because of him that's why this website is not progressing!

murali May 5, 2008 1:55 PM

y is it whenvr tariq is mentioned there is too much flare in ur site? cant u guys just live him alone if hes not good why bother. if he is good so what its his life!

anonymous @ May 5, 2008 1:48 PM: I didn't say that kO = Tariq so, pleas don't put words in my mouth or my writing in this case.
So you say KO would do better if Tariq is away. You say that based on what. Is Tariq holding KO back and telling it not to progress? Explain!

murali: Like I said in the previous article, this is probably happening because he is a celeb and people are just jealous. But I don't know.

KO is a better place without him in. I think I can explain it better. Look at potential of the website. It is good and very important. You guys have lot of visits and lot of members in short time. With ppl like him on your project plan. This website will not go an inch. It will just fail! Your point about Maryam and not being mentioned is one example. If it were not him. She would be mentioned. Another thing. What does celeb has to do with him in your site?

Al-Maawali May 5, 2008 5:14 PM

I am sorry, man but you still didn't explain how exactly KO would do better without him. You didn't gave any reasons other than confirming what you already said before.

Tariq was mentioned because he is a regular in the media and it's not his mistake, it is the paper's.

And do really think that we would have gotten all this publicity this fast if Tariq wasn't involved?

Please think of your answers before saying anything else because I am starting to get tired of repeating the same thing over and over again.

What do you think will happen if tariq decides to leave the team? What is your feeling frankly. Will it continue at same style to better?

Al-Maawali May 5, 2008 9:31 PM

Tariq leaves the team? Why will he do that? If he leaves then I am pretty sure he will have a very good reason to do so.

I have a request, may we please stop talking about Tariq? Why is it that whenever I talk about KnowledgeOman, it turns into a topic about Tariq?
Let's just leave they guy alone.

Interesting Blog.

Do you all live in Oman?

Al-Maawali May 8, 2008 12:46 PM

Hi Tim Noble,
I know I live in Oman, I don't know about the others who have commented.

Thanks for showing your interest, I see you've done the same in OmanCommunityBlog.

Tim Noble May 8, 2008 12:52 PM

Yes. I really interested in networking with some people in Oman and the Gulf in general...

Al-Maawali May 8, 2008 12:55 PM

How come?

Tim Noble May 8, 2008 1:06 PM

I run a few companies in the UK and I'm trying to find a way to expand into the Gulf in a simple way. I create hand made hunting and fishing knives and I also buy and sell land in the UK. I've done some work in Qatar and Bahrain in the past with mixed results. I suppose ultimately what I am looking for is a young entrepreneur in the region who can set up a Gulf version of my companies - or something like that...I've kind of got an open mind...unlike a lot of entrepreners I'm not money mad....I just enjo finding ways of doing business...hope this makes sense.

Take a look at my websites:

www.jamesnobleknives.com

www.ancientwoodland.com

and my blog...there is more information there.

I can also get prime UK development land for people who would like to invest in the UK.

Tim

OK Tim Noble, I would like to discuss more about this. How about you email me on this address: almaawali90@gmail.com and I will propose some ways to get the word out?
