Text Message from Muscat Municipality
I once parked in a metered parking lot but was not able to pay for the ticket. Whenever I put a coin into the meter, the coin comes back out. I've noticed others facing the same problem. I assumed that it was free for the day for, maybe, some kind of an occasion. Luckily, I got back to my car without getting a fine, which I have noticed on other's windshields.
I have just recieved this text message a few minutes back from Muscat Municipality.
Parking meters do not accept the new coins of 50Bz issued in 2008. Muscat Municipality
May somebody please help me understand why?

really that is a big problem
when i went to al-qurum near KFC
i went to the place where i put the 50Bz but asyou said it came out and tried several times.
and then i said maybe it is not working soooooo i went to the resturant
and when i finished that was the surprise!!!!
i got a fine!!!
i don't know what i should do????

anonymous 1 Maybe... I really can't think of a reason.
anonymous 2 I think that since the municipality is responsible of this stupid mistake, that should take FULL responsibility and have nobody pay until they find a solution to it.
I say, since they know about the problem and have sent text messages to people about it, DON'T PAY the fine. Take it to court if you have to and let them know that you are serious about it and I assure you that it will be forgotten.
If not, come back here and let me know about it. Why? I well make sure it goes to the major news medias in the Sultanate. I know a couple of people who are itching to publish stories like these in Al-Shabiba.
