Vlog - Study Problem - The Introduction

The idea is simple. If you've ever came across a Blog which communicates with its audience through videos, that's called a Vlog which is short for Video-Blog and this is what it is.

I am going to attempt to communicate with you - my audience - via video on my finale-year-in-high-school study problem. If you like the idea and think that you may actually be interested in coming every other day or so to check up on it, please let me know in the comments section at the bottom of this post.

In todays video, I talk about the problem and ask you for help on it. I know that the quality is not too good but that's the fastest way of getting the video online as I don't want to add on to my already existing problem. You will get it all after watching the video. Enjoy...

video

Now that you watched the video and know my problem, I would really like to hear what advice you have in store for me.
Please comment if you have anything to say about this and if you don't have anything to say but know someone who does, please bring them here and let them help me. You will not only be helping me, but helping every other high school student who is facing the very same problem by referring this post to them after all help of your advice are added.

Thanks

Ow why haven't I thought of that earlier? Now, I could really study and get great grades. Thank Mr. anonymous.

I can understand what you are going through. I have the same problem when I am over stressed.

The fact that you are talking about it does show your determination to achieve something by at least questioning.

I know that the subjects are boring, but try and think beyond the exams. Close your eyes for a minute or two and think about the good things that might happen if you fought this obstacle.

It seems that you think a lot about the exams and to realse yourself from the stress you waste your time on silly things.

You could combat your stress by actually dealing with the cause, in this case studying is the right solution.

When you get up, a piece of advice, do not get angaged with any thing but your book. It might be boring but remeber it is what caused your misery.

It is logical to fight the cause of a problem rather than chasing away from it.

Remember to study you need to eat and sleep well so avoid caffeine like coffee and tea.

Good luck with you exams and remember your life is more than just a piece of paper with results in it.
Everyone is bigger than a secondary exam results so take it easy.

Are you majored in Arts or Science ?

What are the subjects you are taking...

anonymous @ May 25, 2008 10:22 PM: Those are truly great words. They are definitely not easy to do like engaging in nothing but my books and not drinking caffeinated drinks. But I could see how that may work and I will definitely try you advice by tomorrow morning. Thank you :)

Al-Maawali May 25, 2008 10:54 PM

Amjad I am majored in science. Other than the mandatory subjects like English, Arabic, social science and so forth, I am also taking Physics, Core Maths, chemistry and Elective English.

Amjad May 26, 2008 1:47 AM

Cool. So basically you took the same subjects I took in my last two years of high school. You have only four major exams (Arabic, Maths, Chemistry and Physics) which are not a lot. So, ignore all the other subjects and just focus on these. (oh well, I think you already are and I'm not adding any new thing here :P)

What I'm trying to say that you're not as pressurized as those students whom are taking Biology instead of Elective English. You don't need to study for the Elective English at all (since it's only Reading & Writing) and I guess you already know that because you have seen the format of the exam in the 1st semester. It will be the same exact format for this semester as well.

So.. I'm not really sure what should I exactly suggest.. but try studying different things every day. For example, in those 8 hours you study a day, try doing a chapter of Physics, a chapter of Chem, and do some Maths. The next day, a chapter from Arabic, a chapter from Chem and so on .. Make a cocktail, lol. Don't study the same subject for the whole day, 'cause it would get VERY boring.

Most important thing .. for Physics, Math and Chem do as MANY questions from past exams as possible. They will help A LOT.

Believe me, you have plenty of time. 15 days is more than enough, even if you didn't start studying anything till now. 'cause you will mainly be focusing only on four subjects - Arabic, Physics, Chemistry and Math.

Good luck!

Al-Maawali May 26, 2008 1:41 PM

Amjad Thanks man. But I will have to disagree with you on something. You said that I should only focus on those 4 subjects and the others are easy. I don't think so.
You forgot that social studies need serious studying too. And Islamic is easy but you'll have to memorize all of the verses which I am the weakest at.
So in total, 6 subjects require my attention.

I like the cocktail thing and that was my initial plan but since I can't get around studying, I usually only study one subject for about an hour or so then study nothing afterwards. I am still working on that based on the tips that I got from anonymous @ May 25, 2008 10:22 PM.
And answering as many questions from past exams as possible is also a very useful tip. Thanks :)

So, do you have any other tips on how to keep yourself motivated and always fresh for more studying?

first thing : Are you drunk when you film that video ???

HaHa don't anger

Al-Maawali May 26, 2008 4:12 PM

LOL. I know that's you, Malik. There you go, I said your name. MALIK!

How are your studies, man? For real, how are you doing?

Amjad May 26, 2008 5:47 PM

You shouldn't focus too much on Islamic Studies and Social Studies since they both come from the school and wouldn't be that hard. Four days before the exam would be enough - two days for Islamic Studies and two days for Social Studies. In fact, that would be MORE than enough.

Don't focus too much on those two subjects. Not only because the exams are from the school and not ministry, but also because they weigh less than the other four subjects when it comes to the 40% - 60% calculations which determines whether or not you'd be able to join SQU or have a scholarship.

Al-Maawali May 26, 2008 6:20 PM

Amjad That makes sense. I think I am going to do that, leave the last four days for those subjects.

But, I won't be going to the universities here so the 40-60% thing will not matter. All that matters is that I get a high total percentage. So, Social Studies and Islamic Studies matter as much as the other subjects do.
